About Sensei Bagwell

Herbie Bagwell,Jr was born and raised in New London, CT in 1965. The son of Herbert and Betty Lou Bagwell. In 1970, the family of five moved to Groton, CT, because of a better educational system. Herbie Bagwell began studying Goju Rye Karate, under the tutelage of Master Chuck Merriman of New London,CT.

Herbie Bagwell studied under Master Chuck Merrman for two years. However, football, baseball and track and field were also loves of Herbie Bagwell. At age 17, Herbie Bagwell began studying Kempo Karate under Master Tim Raynor of Norwich,CT. Studying under Master Tim Raynor was the beginning of the love, appreciation and respect of Martial Arts.

While in College, Herbie Bagwell starred in Football and Track and Field. Herbie Bagwell later had football Camp tryouts with the Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots. In Herbie Bagwell’s early twenties, he was introduced to Tae Kwon Do by Master Jones in Manhattan, NY. Mr. Bagwell still trains under Master Jones, and Sensei Bagwell earned his black Belt in Tae Kwon Do in 2007.

In addition, over the past five years Sensei Bagwell has been diligently studying Kempo Karate under the watchful eye of sixth degree black belt Shihan (Master) Dan Jenkins. Sensei Bagwell has recently earned his first degree black belt in Kempo Karate. Sensei Bagwell is a three time Point Fighting champion in the Krane Karate Circuit, and thoroughly enjoys teaching his two children, (Herbie 11yrs- red belt Tae Kwon Do and Katia 14yrs – Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do). Sensei Bagwell enjoys his other interests as well: Racing, Acting, Modeling, writing and worshiping at Church.
